Online Resources @ your library
Online resources are tools that can help us find and locate quality and reliable information online, such as:
- library catalogues
- electronic databases
- magazine articles in full text
- electronic reference books (e.g. encyclopedias, e-books)
- digital media (e.g. streamed audio and video)
- internet sites and directories
At Finch, we have access to a variety of online resources through the school library web page. To support this, TDSB has recently purchased the license for Knowledge Ontario, a province-wide collaboration of libraries, archives, museums, heritage organizations, educational institutions and community groups. This is great news! This means that students and teachers can access the online resources FREE 24/7 at school and at home. The following online resources can be accessed through Knowledge Ontario:
Academic OneFile Health and Wellness Resource Center
Canadian Reference Center Info Trac Junior Edition
CPI.Q (Canadian Periodical Index) Info Trac Student Edition
Discovering Collection Kid InfoBits
Expanded Academic ASAP National Newspaper Index
Gale Virtual Reference Library
General Reference Center Gold
The school library homepage http://www.tdsb.on.ca/libraries/links.asp?schoolNo=3122 can be used as a portal to connect to Knowledge Ontario resources. Please note- a password is required to access from home (password changes regularly and is communicated to families through the monthly school newsletter).
